When you should be suspicious of domain fraud.
  1. Before you buy a domain name, check whois history (domain tools.com). Be suspect of changes that have occurred recently, especially changes in administrative email contact. For large domain purchases call the owner to verify history of the domain.
  2. Think before you purchase. In a domain theft, especially a valuable name the thief will want to get rid of it fast, so they will want the transaction to be quick.
  3. Check seller's reputation: find out more about them and especially any past domain sales.
  4. Too good of a deal: As is most always the case, if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. An expensive domain selling for way below value should be a signal.
  5. Register with reputable domain registrar. Moniker and Fabulous have apparently never had a domain stolen. It will be a secure domain name.
  6. Contact Email addresses: Do not use free email accounts.  They are too easy to hack into.
